Punjabi Chunni /Dupatta :-
Punjabi chunni or dupatta is the piece of fabric wear on head to maintain dignity and showing respect to others. Dupatta is the essential part you need to wear with suit salwar. Borders of dupatta is decorated with many accessories like lace, crochet beading, ribons, beaded work, embroidery or print. Gota lace is traditional way to embellish dupatta.gota lace come in silver, golden color shinny stripes,which is stiched at all corners of dupatta,as you can see in picture.
Punjabi Jutti/Khussa/Mauja :-
Punjabi jutti(mauja,khussa) is traditional punjabi footwear. it is beautyfully handcrafted by adding beads, motifs, embroidery,mirror work,bell ornaments,leather etc.it come in every color red,green ,yellow,peack silver ,shiny in every type of design.it is mainly carry with punjabi suit and kurta pajama for unique look.
Punjabi Bridal Suit Salwar :-
Mostly Girls wear their choice of outfit on their wedding day. In punjabi culture , girls choose to wear suit salwar and chunni(dupatta) as it is their traditional outfit. Suit is the kameez wear on top part of body that comes in various lenghts like knee length,ankle length or between knee or ankle length. Salwar is the bottom part.and chunni wear on the head to show respect and to keep her regalness up.
Nath :-
Nath (Nosering) is the part of accessory, carried by her maternal grandparents same as chuda(bangles).
Maternal grandparents give it as endow from their part for their beloved daughter.
it is the one from the 16 adornment(16 accessories) given to bride for the well being of newly married couple. Nath comes in varity of shapes and sizes as you can see in the following pictures.
Bridal Speacial Dupattas :-
Heavy dupattas embellished with heavy embroidery which include gota patti style, phulkari styles, velvet shawl, embroidery on diffrent fabric like chiffon, silk, velvet, net which gives you royal look for wedding.Speacial Colors that use for Bridal dupatta are primary colors like Red, Orange, Green , Yellow.
Kalire
Kalire are the hanging braclets with curve or umbrella shapes golden cups with some chains swing under them of golden color, adorn by pipal patti (leafs) type accessory.
It is tinkle and thrown down on the head of person,who we want to give bless of matrimony.or who we wish to get married soon.
Traditional Kalire :-
Traditional kalire was made up of coconut as cup and Elaichi dana(sweet nuts) as hanging chains adorn by some flowers in between, encrusted with some more dry fruits,and then attach with the chuda of bride. it symbolise the happiness, wealth, and blessings for her new wedding life.
After get married bride keep it with her as it remind about her parents and family,it is considered as she carries memories of her parents home to her in-laws in form of kalira.

Eyebrows Dot Makeup:-
Traditional makeup was far different from modern makeup. Instead of putting so many cosmatic products on face, they believe to use natural products like chandan color (sandalwood paste), turmuric powder, kohl to beautfy lips, eyes and eyebrows. Girls use red and white color paint to draw dots above their brows to define the shape or built-in stickers also available for that purpose.
Bridal Hairstyle/ Bridal Bun :-
Punjabi girls always suggest to do bun or tie their hairs because open hair is prohibited in punjabi culture for bride.the reason behind it is that it is considered as bad omen.
In punjabi cultute, at the time of death of person,womens (family members and participants) open their hair for desolation.thats why it is not considered as good omen in wedding ceremonies. High bun is the most popular hairstyle of punjabi brides.
Pranda / Prandi :-
Pranda is the hair ornament which is used to knot around the hair parts. It is basically used to make single braid. In old times girls tie their hairs with prandi. Prandi is the black color bunch of long threads with some tassels at the end. Prandi is decorated with different types of colorful tassels like silver color tassel , golden tassels, mirror-tassels, pom-pom tassels , pearls, beads and shinny thread. It is given to the bride to adorn her braid.
Traditional Bridal Jewellery :-
To create unique and attractive look, jwellery plays very important role.To recreate traditional looks, girls prefer to wear pearl made jwellery, taweet( punjabi golden necklace haar) for speacial events, silver and gold pleated leafs necklace, ranihaar and saggi phull ( ornament for forehear). Paasa can be wear on the left or right side of your crown part. Choker type neckpieces are the demand of every modern bride these days.
Phulkari :-
Phulkari is most famous rural traditional design of dupatta,which is made as heavy embroidery all over dupatta.The basic Phulkari pattern is Four-pointed star called ( choumukheya) or eight -pointed star called (athkaliya). The speacial point is that phulkari embroidery dupatta not have any oppoisite side.It have same clean embroidery on both side.you can wear any of the side of phulkari.This the the speacial feature.
Bridal Chuda :-
Chuda (punjabi wedding bangles) is the most important accessory for a wedding girl. it is given to girl by her maternal parents on day before wedding day.chuda comes in various colors and varities ,but most traditional and famous is red color with mixing of some white bangles. it is mandatory to wear for 45 days or 1 and half month and bride can wear upto 1 to 4 year or less than that depend on her choice(as per traditional beliefs). and after that bride will keep it with her.
it is considered as symbol of newly married bride.
Lehanga Choli :-Lehanga choli is also the traditional wear of punjabi culture. Lehanga is the bottom flared skirt and choli is the top of knee length or above knee as per the requirement with open slits on both sides. Chunni is mandatory part of lehanga choli in punjabi culture. It is different from modern Lehanga because the top part is long choli instead of blouse. Choli is just like the suit of above- knee length.
If you want some alternative to the punjabi suit for your wedding, lehanga choli is the best choice to recreate traditional look.
Bridal Outfit/Dress Color :-
Red color is considered as the symbol of wealth happiness and good for starting a new life.Mostly brides prefer red ,pink ,orange color shades for their wedding outfit.wedding outfit is considered very carefully, because it give the bride unique look from others.
Punjabi girls wear the outfit given by their maternal parents,because it was ritual coming from their ancestors. According to old customs of punjabi culture, it is mandatory to first wear the clothes of maternal parents, then only girl can wear her choice of lehanga /outfit.
Some girls wear the outfit or dupatta of her mother,which her mother took from her mother(maternal grandmother of girl).it means girl is suppossed to carry her culture and custom with her.
Saggi Phull:-
Saggi phull is the traditional ornament used to adorn the forehead or head of the girls. It is made-up of gold pleated layer of shinny paper or polish. It consist of three dome shaped decorated cups attach with chain or ribbon. Saggi -phul is golden color accessory embellish with stones, crystles, beads, ribons or bells( ghungaroos). Anarkali Suit- Salwar:-
Anarkali suit salwar is the modification form of typical suit salwar. It is design as to have flared top with normal salwar and dupatta. Frock style top of this outfit make it unique from normal punjabi suit. Lenght of the top wear could be any from knee-length to ankl- length, but not above the knee-length. Frock is design by using pleates or flared hem. This modern style of traditional punjabi suit grab the attention of every bride.
Panjeba Or Jhanjran :-Panjeba is known as anket, Which is a adornment designed for females. Jhanjran is the traditional ornament of punjabi girls to adorn their feet. It is designed as decorated chain of metal with some pair of tinkle bells on it. Every girl can wear jhanjran from babygirl, young girls ,brides and married womens. Anklet comes in variety of designs and materials like metal, gold, silver, heavy to simple designs. In punjabi traditional culture, silver ankets are most common and famous material. For simple look, you can wear simple chains and for any speacial look like wedding, heavy designs are prefered by girls. Jhanjran is one of the sixteen accesories( solah shingaar) given to the bride.
Veil:-
Veil is the traditional element of punjabi bridal dress, which is used to hide the face of the bride. In traditional times, face was concealed by using the same dupatta she wearing with suit. Now girls like to use seperate dupatta or light weight chunni for veil purpose. According to old times, bride needs to carry the veil till the completion of wedding ceremony. but by passing the time, veil is open after the anand karaj ceremony.
Mehandi:-
Mehandi is the essential adornment for bride to decorate their palms and feets. Mehandi is the paste of hina leafs used to adorn hands and feets. Mehandi is the sign of colorful life for the bride. In old times , mehandi was applied by using broom sticks , reason being mehandi cones was not invented that time. Doted mehandi designs was famous for hands that time.
