What Is Mehandi / Significance Of Mehandi

  Mehandi which is called hina too, originated in ancient india. it is actually the paste madeup from the dry leaves of the heena plant.Hina plant is an ancient Small tree, popularly known as Hina/Mehandi  is a coloring agent from hundereds fo years. there are many benifits of using heena like it have color properties due to which it is used for polish skin and  dye hair. it has medical properties also, used for giving your skin relief from burn and give your skin a soothing effect. 

it is a adornment(makeup) for indian and many womens across the world. It is particulary used in speacial occassion like weddings, karwa-chowth, diwali, mehandi ceremony, or any auspicious occasion, because it is considered as the symbol of vibrant and colorful life.
The paste is of olive colored when wet(soak into water) and after dry this paste change into orange/red to brown color(after removing).  It has two features, first it is used for decorative purpose because of its colored-feature. In india mostly we use it to color/decorate our hands /feet/ hairs speacially on marriage or occassional function. Second it is used for medical purpose also as it act as a herbal treatment for hairs and give soothing/cooling effect on skin.


Advantages Of Mehandi On Skin / Hair:-

1) No chemical reaction, because it is a natural ingredient.
2) It gives treatment to High blood -pressure and headache.
3) Give natural shine to hair and skin
4) Easily avaliable and simple process.
5) Low cost Herbal Treatment For split-ends, dry hair and dandruff.
6) used to cover dull and grey hairs.
7) Give You skin orange to red and hair Reddish- sheen tone.

Disadvantages On Excess Use Only:-

1) Excess hina application cause heena deposit on the cuticle layer of the hair , which result in thickening of the hair.
2) Excess use of hina block the pores in the cortex layer of the hair, thus hair cannot brathe and become dry.
3) Give Strong red color to hair, which is quiet visible.

Process To Make A Mehandi Paste

1) Take a bowl with some water and soak the hina in it for 4 hours at least.
2) For hairs you can add other ingredients also like Amla powder, OLive oil, Lemon juice, egg or curd for have luster effect on hairs.
3) For hands/feet  you can add paste of cloves and musturd oil for darken the color. but musturd oil is hot ingredient.
4) Keep this paste For 40-45 minutes for hairs and 4 hours for skin(hand/feets) TIL it become dry.
5) Rinse out hair with lukewarm water(not apply shampoo) and remove from hands with water.
NOTE: apply shampoo to hairs after 24 hours.
6) Apply musturd oil after the process on hands for long lasting effect.

Step 4: Rinse out and final look here.
